    Ethics for hobby scientists

I watch stuff on youtube and around the net and sometimes I wonder. Should we as hobby scientists and engineers have to keep certain parts of the work censored? I see videos on youtube and other accounts around the web of sheer moronic buffoonery veiled as science. It is going to get other newbies hurt and get what we do made illegal? Just some random thoughts what do you guys think?

I don't publish things for the following reasons:

1- Its a neat idea but is simple or cheap enough that it WILL get ripped off, like a lot of my stuff has in the past.

2- I will get flamed for it. I had to block comments from my Hydrofluoric Acid dissolving glass video on Youtube because a million pussies were going in there and saying I was going to die because I was "playing" with something that was "very dangerous". Can't stand that.

3- It can attract the wrong kind of attention. Poisons / Explosives fall under that category.

That's about it though. Honestly a lot of the real crap on the Internet is posted by kids who just don't know any better, but freedom of speech protects most of it, so in all likelyhood it won't change.

It is sad cause the internet is a wealth of knowledge I learned alot of what I know from reading Wikipedia and various projects. I was not talking about the stuff others post but the stuff we design and build. I tend to draw the line where you do except for number 2, I do not care if someone calls me a ***** or whatever I know I did it safe let the flamers have at it. To bad really
You know that fine line between genius and insanity I crossed long ago went round the planet and somehow wound up in a state of insanity again
